Accessibility
NixIt is built by neurodivergent people for neurodivergent people. Access isn't a feature we add later. Here's where we stand today, honestly.
What works today
- Lexend, a font designed for easier reading, is the default everywhere.
- You can use NixIt by text from any phone. No smartphone, no app, no data plan needed.
- On a phone or computer, NixIt runs in your browser and can be added to your home screen. No app store required.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, NixIt respects it.
- In the app, you can move with a keyboard, with visible focus and skip links.
- Buttons and controls carry labels for screen readers.
- Automated accessibility checks run on core parts of the app.
What we're still fixing
- There's no text size setting in the app yet. Use your browser's zoom for now: Ctrl and + on Windows, Cmd and + on a Mac.
- NixIt is dark mode only right now.
- Some images are still missing text descriptions.
- Our public web pages don't have skip links yet.
- We haven't had an independent accessibility audit, so we don't claim full WCAG conformance. We're working toward WCAG 2.2 AA.
Tell us about a barrier
If something gets in your way, we want to know. Email [email protected] with "Accessibility" in the subject. Describe it however works for you. A sentence, a screenshot or a voice memo is fine.
